Corrie Star to launch Richmond's Anniversary

This year sees an important milestone for a famous city landmark as the Richmond Centre turns 25 years of age. This multi-level centre opened in November 1984 and incorporated Richmond Street, hence the name Richmond Centre. Stores include HMV, New Look, Game, Sony Centre, Yellow Moon, Argos, Jack Jones and many more.

To celebrate 25 successful years in business, Coronation Street's Michelle Keegan - aka Tina McIntyre - will visit the store to meet shoppers and to launch a Crack the Safe campaign in store.

Also present at the launch of the 25th birthday celebrations will be SDLP councillor John Tierney, who as mayor of the city officially opened the Richmond Centre in 1984.
He said:I'm delighted to attend the launch of the Richmond Centre's 25th birthday celebrations, and I remember feeling very proud when I officially opened the centre back in 1984. I happened to be mayor at the time so I had the pleasure of officiating at the opening, but I'd like to stress that it's thanks to the hard work and effort of the mayors who came before me, and the work they did with the development office, that we were able to bring the Richmond into being.

The Richmond Centre was a very presitigious thing for the city at that time. Prior to that there was little there but burnt out shops and we knew something had to be done. I'm delighted it's still going strong - we predicted it would last at least 25 years and hopefully longer, and judging by the vibrant state it's in at present it will be around for a long time to come.

As a big thank-you to all its loyal customers, Richmond is giving away a load of prizes, with the star giveaway being a whopping £1,000 gift card. It's going to be a cracking Christmas for one lucky customer, who will get to splurge on a grand's worth of stuff if their promotional code opens the special birthday safe. The prize gift card can be used in any of Richmond's stores, and with over 40 shops to choose from the winner will have no trouble filling everyone's stockings this Christmas!

There are special cards attached to the front covers of Pure magazine or you will be given one card for every transaction made within the Richmond Centre over the next two months. You have to be in it to win it, though, so if you fancy a grand's worth of goodies, just read the code printed on the cards, go to the safe in the Richmond Centre and type in your unique number.

If you crack the code, the top prize is yours, and if you miss out on the big one, don't worry because, to celebrate 25 years on the go, Richmond is giving away a total of 25 prizes, so there'll also be 24 gift cards worth £25 up for grabs.

Centre manager for Richmond, Fergal Rafferty, is overseeing the birthday celebrations, which are being kicked off by Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan on November 14.
He told us: We're very excited about this giveaway, and it will be very welcome news for the one lucky winner whose code opens the safe. We're also giving away a further 24 bonus prizes as a gesture of goodwill to show our appreciation for the loyalty our customers have shown over the past 25 years.

This is a landmark birthday for us, and there's plenty to celebrate, as we've progressed so much since our doors were opened in 1984. We've introduced natural daylight features, a scenic lift and carried out several refurbishments, and have an array of shops that any shopping centre would be proud of, including a large volume of high street fashion shops. Richmond Centre continues to go from strength to strength, and I look forward to continued business and loyalty from our customers for many years to come.
