MORE THAN JUST A RECIPE BOOK LAUNCHED

A local teacher turned business woman, launched a selfhelp book called 'More Than Just a Recipe Book' at Guava Juice Bar in the Richmond Centre, L' Derry.
Personal experiences prompted lifestyle changes for Catherine who is now the owner of the Guava Juice Bar Ltd chain of juice bars.
Catherine, who spent 14 years as Head of Department in Oakgrove Integrated College, Gransha Park, researched the role diet can play in common diseases like bowel cancer. She found that 80% of these diseases are thought to be preventable and so set about making some changes for her own family. These changes are now outlined in the book.
Simple changes like cutting down on processed foods and being aware of their salt, sugar and fat content, eating more fruit, vegetables and whole grains and being aware of the chemicals in every day products.
One of the main advantages of the book is that it is very easy to use. Change is introduced gradually and it is only when one change has become a habit that another change is introduced.
Weight loss, improvements in energy levels and skin condition happen almost without much conscious effort.
'So many people were looking for information and recipes for juices and smoothies that I decided to put it all together in the form of a book.' Catherine said
The benefits of this healthier lifestyle were firmly brought home to Catherine when a friend was diagnosed with a tumour. By introducing fruit and vegetable juices, Wheatgrass and Spirulina the tumour began to reduce by it's self and within the year it was gone.
'This confirmed all the research' Catherine said. 'We have now totally embraced this healthier lifestyle and are feeling the benefits. This is not a diet, just a different way of thinking about food, lifestyle and health.
The book 'More Than Just a Recipe Book' outlines in simple steps how to introduce small changes which have the potential to change health for the better.
The book is available to buy for £6.99 at Guava Juice Bar on Level 2 of the Richmond Shopping Centre.
